The Wagon Wheel House
The Wagon Wheel House
A proud Nation. Almost Lost. Never Lost.
The Phakowee People have long believed in the mystical, healing & cleansing power of Sage.
Through decades, some believe their continual religious use of Sage has saved their Nation.
It has kept them together, even though apart. Never Lost.
Today many more are connecting; wanting not to be
left behind, alone or lost. They know the feeling.
Is it in You?
Do wonder as you wander?
Are there times you don’t know which way to turn?
Is the ‘direct route’ seldom one you choose?
Frustrated because you just wanna get ‘home’?
You may be one of us. . .
....just didn't know the way.
The People
Today, the pure biological population has dwindled. Interbreeding and loss of native landscape have contributed to the decline in related members.
Yet an increasing number of people now identify themselves or others as Phakowee. As such, it's Members are now indistinguishable from the norm in locale, habitat, physical appearance and knowledge. Dispersion & dilution was inevitable.
Still, the ‘circle of life’ is basic to all they do, wherever they are trying to go.
Traveling in both concentric circles and repeating spirals are a way of life. Such wanderings can be confusing to those unaware.
Spirituality
Many people relate Spirals and Circles to symbols of natural growth. Cycles of evolution including life, death, and rebirth can be envisioned in the continuous, ever winding curves. For centuries many peoples and cultures, including the Native American, have associated circles and spirals with this cycle of life, representing the harmony and universal interconnection of the natural world around us.
To the Phakowee, a straight line or direct way is always avoided. Traveling in such a manner makes it easy for unclean spirits to follow your path.
Many members believe the Raven to be a messenger to those Spirits.
They keep a sharp eye out for that covert spy.
native sage
Harvesting of native Sage is done with this same theme in mind.
Never would they gather Sage from a straight line of 'row cropping'. Mechanically cultured or ‘farm raised’ Sage is of no value.
It has lost all of it's Spiritual connection with the wild. It is worthless.
Only natural, NATIVE free-range Sage contains the benefits which true
‘Circle Sage People’ seek.
Here in the Yellowstone Ecosystem, Wyoming Mountain Silver Sage is carefully selected and gathered on spiritually cleansed private properties and then hand-processed, being bound with natural leather thongs into proper bouquets.
benefits of sage
Though many of the ceremonies and secret greeting gestures have been lost through dispersion, the constant respectful employ of their native Sage seemed to have preserved, to some extent, the Phakowee people's tradition.
Today, “SMUDGING” has become universally popular and many encourage such ceremonies. Sagebrush can be used for ‘smudging’ a house, dwelling or even a business. In Native American Smudging Ceremonies, bundles of dried sagebrush leaves are burned to spiritually cleanse or purify a person, space or object. It is believed to remove bad spiritsor negative energies influences.
All peoples have been known to benefit from Sage.
Even the general aroma it generates can be a calming influence
all on it’s own, without the burning.
Looking to the Future
In these more modern times, the Phakowee is less a Nation connected by blood, but more of an understood appreciation and bond that unites people of all genres having experienced 'that feeling'. When you are there, you'll know it. While maybe initially unsettling, as you find your way you will always remember those initial moments. You' ll be glad your 'way' led you home.
Using oral interviews, historical records, genetic analysis, and other research, genealogists have assembled information about this almost Lost Tribe in order to determine and demonstrate kinship and pedigrees of its members. The Phakowee are welcoming to those who feel lost. Those who are searching for a way back to where they want to be: Feel's like Home.
The last remaining group of these historic people is the Weida Phakowee .
This is a proud, if not prominent group. They are a welcoming people. Join.
DO NOT be surprised when you encounter random chants or outbursts seemingly coming out of nowhere. It's a clear and justifiable self-respect and tribal identification. “Weida Phakowee!”
Rings Loud and Clear.
May they long live and circle back again!
and AGAIN!
